Inner Tube Weight Calculation Guide — Woven Bag vs Carton Packing Volume

Learn how to calculate inner tube packing volume using woven bag weight or carton dimensions, and understand why this calculation is the most overlooked component in motorcycle tire container loading.

Inner Tube Weight Calculation Guide — Woven Bag vs Carton Packing Volume

Most exporters calculate outer tire volume but completely forget to account for inner tube space — which can be 8–15% of total container capacity for motorcycles with TT (tube-type) tires. Here's the essential guide to getting tube volume right.

Calculating Inner Tube Volume by Woven Bag Weight (Most Common Method)

When your supplier packs tubes in woven bags:

  • Enter the net weight per woven bag (usually 15–25 kg depending on tube size)
  • Our calculator uses industry-standard bulk density tables to convert weight → volume
  • Typical conversion: ~0.3 cbm per 100kg of woven bag-packed tubes

Calculating Inner Tube Volume by Carton Dimensions (Alternative Method)

When your supplier ships in cardboard cartons:

  • Enter carton dimensions (Length × Width × Height in cm)
  • Enter pieces per carton (usually 50–200 pcs depending on spec width)
  • The calculator handles carton stacking volume with standard pallet gaps

Why This Matters

For a typical TT motorcycle tire lot of 8,000 outer tires: tubes ≈ 8,000 units × 1.2kg avg = 9,600 kg

  • Woven bag-packed volume: ~2.9 cbm — that's 4.3% of your 40HQ container!
  • Carton-packed volume could be up to 3.5–4.0 cbm (larger due to empty carton space)

Key takeaway: Always track inner tube weight separately from outer tire calculations in our loading plan tool — don't approximate!
